FBCCI says highway traffic jam raises cost of doing business
 
The leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) expressing their concern said traffic jams on the highways and city roads raise the cost of business in the country.

They said the recent decision of limiting excel load of vehicles on the highways also increased the number of transport vehicles, which is creating extra traffic congestion, which spoils huge working hours hampering production, marketing and export of goods.

The business leaders came up with these observations at a meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee relating to Ministry of Local overnment, Rural Development and Co-operatives (City Corporation) on Saturday at FBCCI Board Room.

The discussants at the meeting emphasized on improvement of city mass transportation service and expressed their determination not to use horn in their cars while moving in the city roads, in order to reduce noise pollutions.

They also urged relevant authorities to take steps to keep city rods free of water logging during rains and take steps to repair the damaged roads.

They also called upon the drivers of vehicles and pedestrians to respect traffic laws to avoid accidents.

The meeting also requested the concerned authority to operate the adulteration drive properly, so that people can biu commodities and essentials at reasonable price.

Presided over by Standing Committee Chairman Helal Uddin the meeting presented the detailed future plan of the committee. FBCCI Vice President Md. Muntakim Ashraf and Director Hafez Harun-Or-Roshid also participated in the discussion among others.
