Flights from Agartala to Dhaka, Chattogram to start soon
 
Passengers can soon fly from Tripura’s Agartala to Dhaka and Chattogram in Bangladesh on direct flights, announced the Airport Authority of India (AAI) on January 15.

AAI officials said, international flights from Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) airport in Agartala to Dhaka and Chattogram as well as Bangkok via Guwahati Airport will begin soon.

According to reports, MBB airport in Tripura is now the second busiest airport in northeastern India after Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati in handling aircraft and passengers.

Reports said, the airport’s new integrated terminal welcomed the first flight with 143 passengers on board from Kolkata with a water cannon salute on January 15.

The new terminal building at MBB Airport was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 4.

It was commissioned in the presence of Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik on January 15. She was one of the first passengers to embark from the airport that day.

Equipped with all modern amenities, the new integrated terminal building cost around Rs 5,00 crore and is designed to accommodate 1,500 passengers including 200 international ones during peak hours even.
