Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against nine people including the former managing director of state-run Pragoti Industries Limited (PIL) Md Touhiduzzaman.

The case was filed on Thursday bringing various charges including abuse of power, corruption, and fraudulence.

ACC Deputy Assistant Director Sabuj Hossain filed the case at Chittagong Integrated District Office-1.

The other accused of the case are- Proprietor Md Rahat Hasan of Trading Talent, Kaikobad Al-Mamun, former head of production at Pragati Industries Limited, Saidur Rahman Jamali, former head of marketing, Rezaul Karim, head of accounts department, Md Siddiqur Rahman Dewan, head of purchase department, Md Humayun Kabir, former deputy general manager (administration), Biswajit Chaudhary, engineer (Mechanical) and Md Hayat Mahmud, former engineer (Mechanical).

According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other through corruption, irregularity, fraud and abuse of power supplied and received goods worth Tk55,83, 830 from Malaysia, Thailand except Japan which has tarnished the image and reputation of the company.

At the same time, they committed a crime punishable under the Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act by embezzling goods worth Tk29,67,720 by showing false and fake receipts and creating bills and vouchers with quality certification without accepting them from the supplier.
