Women’s Football League begins today
ARB College Sporting Club will take on Bangladesh Army SC on the opening day of the nine-team Women’s Football League at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur today.

The lone match of the opening day is scheduled to begin at 3:45pm.

Defending champions and hat-trick title winners Bashundhara Kings are not participating in this season’s league due to the players’ high wage demands, while the other three teams from the last edition, Barishal Football Academy, Cumilla United, and FC Brahmanbaria, also skipped their participation.

Newcomers Bangladesh Army is managed by former national women’s team coach Golam Rabbani Choton.

Nasrin Sports Academy formed a strong team by recruiting the maximum number of national team players and naming national team captain Sabina Khatun its captain.

The other participating teams in the single-leg competition are Uttara Football Club Ltd, Siraj Srity Sangsad, Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club, Jamalpur Kacharipara Akadas, Dhaka Rangers Football Club, and Farashganj Sporting Club.

Each team will receive Tk 50,000 as participation money, while the champions and runners-up will get Tk 5 lakh and Tk 3 lakh, respectively.
