Women’s Football League all set to kick off

The 2023-24 edition of Women’s Football League is all set to kick off in the capital’s Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sepahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur Saturday.

Bangladesh Army will take on Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan College in the inaugural match as nine teams will vie for the title this time.

The captains of all the participating teams attended a press conference at Bangladesh Football Federation House Friday to share the goals of the season.

National team skipper Sabina Khatun will captain Nasrin Sports Academy who are considered favorites after signing most of the senior Bangladesh players.

Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan College formed the second strongest squad giving national striker Tahura Khatun the captain’s armband.

The other teams are Uttara Football Club, Siraj Srity Sangsad, Suddopuskorini JSC, Jamalpur Kacharipara Akadas, Dhaka Rangers and Farashganj Sporting Club.

Bashundhara Kings are the reigning champions but the club are not taking part this time.

Nasrin Sports Academy brought in majority of the champions’ top footballers in their bid for maiden silverware.
